Insider Reveals Rams’ Potential Asking Price For Matthew Stafford

The Los Angeles Rams and Matthew Stafford find themselves at another crossroads this offseason.

The veteran quarterback’s contract situation has sparked fresh trade rumors, as he enters 2025 with no guaranteed money and a relatively modest $23 million salary.

At 37, Stafford’s likely seeking either a pay bump or stronger guarantees before next season kicks off.

Head coach Sean McVay and the Rams’ front office have made it clear they want their quarterback back for at least another year, according to FOX Sports’ Jordan Schultz.

Yet that hasn’t deterred other teams from testing the waters. Should the Rams even consider parting ways with Stafford, they’re reportedly eyeing a first-round pick as compensation.

“Several teams, per league sources, have called L.A. about Stafford and the belief is a first-round pick would probably be the asking price should the Rams choose to make a deal,” Schultz said.

The idea of releasing Stafford seems far-fetched, given the massive $50 million cap hit it would trigger.

Plus, his performance this season speaks for itself – leading the team to the playoffs while posting impressive numbers: 65.8% completion rate, 3,762 passing yards, and 20 touchdowns.

The trade buzz makes sense, and that first-round asking price feels reasonable for a quarterback of his caliber.

Adding another layer to the situation, reports suggest the Rams are looking to trade Cooper Kupp – a move that’s reportedly not sitting well with Stafford, according to hints from his wife.

With retirement apparently not in the cards, Stafford’s future in Los Angeles promises to be one of the offseason’s biggest storylines.

Several teams have already emerged as potential suitors. While the Las Vegas Raiders, Minnesota Vikings, New York Jets, and Pittsburgh Steelers are all reportedly in the mix, the New York Giants appear to be leading the pack.
