Why Hall of Fame slugger is right about Rafael Devers-Red Sox controversy

Big Papi has spoken.

Hall of Famer David Ortiz, the former Boston Red Sox star, backs Boston third baseman Rafael Devers in the third base controversy that arose earlier this week after the team’s signing of Alex Bregman. And he’s spot-on.

On Monday, Devers said the hot corner is his position after reporters asked him whether he’d be OK playing elsewhere to make room for Bregman, who won the Gold Glove at third for the Houston Astros last season.

“You are not talking about just another ballplayer,” Ortiz told Z101 Digital recently. “You are talking about Rafael Devers, the current David Ortiz-type player the Red Sox have.”
