Mina Kimes Reveals QB NFL Teams Should Draft First

The hottest debate going into the 2025 NFL Draft is whether Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders is the best quarterback available.

Recently, it seems as if experts have been leaning toward Ward, who had a stellar 2024 season with the University of Miami and could have star potential.

ESPN analyst Mina Kimes is one of those who feels Ward is the best QB prospect this year, and she highlighted his strong arm and ability to make difficult passes.

“I think the ceiling for him being the highest of all the quarterbacks involved is why I would take him first if I was an NFL team picking at the top of the draft,” Kimes said, via NFL on ESPN.

Ward threw for 4,313 yards and 39 touchdowns this season after transferring from Washington State, and he led the Hurricanes to a 10-3 record and an appearance in the Pop-Tarts Bowl.

In that game, he completed 12 of 19 pass attempts for 190 yards and three touchdown passes.

However, he didn’t play in the second half, which led to him being criticized.

Even though Ward threw just seven interceptions in 2024, there have been some questions about his decision-making, and it is something NFL defenses could exploit.

At 6-foot-2, he also may not have the ideal height to see over defensive linemen and linebackers at the next level.

The big question is which team will be the first to take a quarterback.

In a recent mock draft by NFL.com analyst Daniel Jeremiah, he had the Cleveland Browns, who have the No. 2 selection, taking Ward, but many feel the Browns will instead go for edge rusher Abdul Carter.

There is also some doubt that the Tennessee Titans, who have the No. 1 pick, will take a quarterback, as they may look to sign one as a free agent instead.
