As opposed to last year, when a number of bona fide potential stars were available, the 2025 NFL Draft class isn’t dazzling.

There may not be a true franchise quarterback available, and there is a dearth of stars at most other positions.

However, draft analyst Matt Miller said there are a number of quality players at one position.

“If you need a starting tight end, this is the year to go get one,” Miller said, via NFL on ESPN.

Tyler Warren of Penn State is widely considered the best tight end in this year’s draft, and many expect him to go in the first half of the first round.

This season, he had 104 receptions for 1,233 yards and eight touchdowns, as well as 218 rushing yards and four touchdowns, and as Miller pointed out, he even threw a touchdown pass.

At 6-foot-6 and 250 pounds, he’s a nice athletic specimen and possesses strong football IQ.

Michigan tight end Colston Loveland had 582 yards and five touchdowns in 10 games this season after he contributed to its national championship the previous season.

Miller said there are going to be starting-caliber tight ends available in round two and round three of the draft, something that isn’t always true.

Last year, first-round pick Brock Bowers came out of Georgia and had 112 receptions for the Las Vegas Raiders, which set an NFL record for rookies at any position, while also collecting 1,194 yards, which was a league record for rookie tight ends.

Only time will tell if any of this year’s tight ends will have that type of success.
