Insider Reveals What He’s Hearing About Joel Embiid’s Situation With 76ers

The Philadelphia 76ers have finally decided to shut down Joel Embiid for the season.

This looked like a long-overdue call, as he was hobbling up and down the court for most of the year.

Even when he was on the floor, which happened rarely, he wasn’t the player we’re used to seeing.

Now, to add insult to injury, it seems like he’s not on the same page with the organization regarding his situation.

According to a report by ESPN insider Shams Charania, the star big man reached out to team owner Josh Harris to address his concerns about the team’s approach to his injury (via ClutchPoints):

“Joel Embiid went directly to 76ers owner Josh Harris about the state of his knee… over the last month, we’ve seen fundamental differences between him & the 76ers as far as Embiid believing that he needs a different treatment approach,” he said.

Some reports stated that the team could even look to get a medical retirement for Embiid, which would wipe his contract from their books.

Embiid has barely been healthy for most of his career.

When he’s been at his best, he’s been one of the most dominant players on both ends of the court.

No one can argue that he’s the centerpiece of his team and one of the best players in the league.

Unfortunately, he’s been missing in action in the playoffs year in and year out, either because of exhaustion, injury, or overall subpar play.

There were also major concerns about his demeanor and work ethic, and some of those date back to when he first entered the league.

Injuries are a part of the game – the worst part.

He’s not to blame for that, but regardless of who’s at fault, the Sixers need to figure out their course of action here.
