Kendrick Perkins Says The Season Is Over For The Mavericks

Is that a wrap on the Dallas Mavericks for the 2024-25 NBA season?

The year has already been filled with bad news for the Mavericks, but things got even worse on Monday night when their star player, Kyrie Irving, went down and left the game with an apparent knee injury.

This is just the latest blow to the squad.

Speaking on Tuesday’s “Get Up,” Kendrick Perkins said it was time for the team to make the tough choice to shut players down and give up on this year.

“This season is over for the Dallas Mavericks,” Perkins plainly said.

Obviously, the Mavericks have been in a weird spot since losing Luka Doncic in his blockbuster trade to the Los Angeles Lakers.

That deal resulted in Anthony Davis in Dallas, but he was quickly hurt and hasn’t played since.

Other stars were already injured at that time, and now Irving could be out with his knee problems.

It’s important to remember that the team is already the 10th in the West, and they could fall down in the standings even more without Irving, Davis, and the rest.

Perhaps it is time for the Mavericks to give up on this year and start planning for next season.

A lot of big things could happen to them in the summer.

For example, there have been rumors that they may be in the mix for Kevin Durant if he leaves the Phoenix Suns, and other major acquisitions could happen.

The cards were already stacked against the Mavericks before Monday’s game, but Irving’s injury might force them to reassess what’s possible and what’s next.
