M(h)aol Announce New Album ‘Something Soft’, Share New Song

M(h)aol – the trio of Constance Keane, Jamie Hyland, and Sean Nolan – have announced their sophomore album, Something Soft. The Attachment Styles follow-up is out May 16 via the band’s new label home, Merge Records. It’s led by the blistering new single ‘DM:AM’, which comes paired with a music video by Keane and Colleen Lee. Check it out and find the album cover and tracklist below.

“This song is about men DM’ing women online and then getting aggressive when they don’t get the response they want,” the band said of the new track, which reminds me of Lambrini Girls’ ‘Big Dick Energy’. (Something Soft finds the band – joined by Pixie Cut Rhythm Orchestra’s Sarah Deegan on bass – reuniting with producer Jamie Hyland, who also worked on Lambrini Girls’ debut.) “They quickly turn to insults about the women, and then once the woman says she’ll expose what they’ve done, she gets a laundry list of reasons why he behaves like this and how much he has to lose, which is meant to make the women feel sorry for them.”
