Report: Patriots bolster defence with Carlton Davis and Robert Spillane

The New England Patriots are wasting no time making significant upgrades to their defence.

Cornerback Carlton Davis and linebacker Robert Spillane have agreed to three-year deals, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Monday.

Davis’ contract totals $60 million over three years and includes $34.5 million in guaranteed money. Spillane will earn a $37.5 million contract with $20.6 million guaranteed, per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

Davis joins New England after spending the 2024 season with the Detroit Lions but saw his season end in Week 15 after suffering a broken jaw. The 28-year-old completed 56 tackles, 11 pass defences, two interceptions and a forced fumble.

The 29-year-old Spillane started every game for the Las Vegas Raiders the past two seasons, averaging 153 tackles.

The Patriots also agreed on a deal with edge rusher Harold Landry on Sunday.
