A Timeline of Rings and Relationships

Jennifer Lopez has turned engagements into a spectacle. Every time she says yes, the ring makes headlines. Over the years, she’s collected a lineup of diamonds that would make most jewelers jealous.

Ojani Noa – The Starting Point

Her first engagement came in 1997. Ojani Noa, a restauranteur, proposed with a six-figure diamond. The marriage barely lasted a year. The ring? An afterthought now.

Cris Judd – Short-Lived but Expensive

In 2001, backup dancer Cris Judd gave her an emerald-cut diamond. The marriage crumbled in under two years. The ring had all the sparkle, none of the staying power.

The Diamonds That Defined Engagement Trends

Some rings do more than symbolize commitment—they reshape the market. When Jennifer Lopez flashed her pink Harry Winston diamond in 2002, the demand for colored diamonds skyrocketed. Years later, her green engagement ring revived the conversation around rare hues. Elizabeth Taylor’s jewels had a similar effect, turning whatever she wore into an instant trendsetter.

Among the various styles that gained traction, the radiant cut diamond ring became a fixture in celebrity proposals. Its bold, modern appeal has remained strong, appearing on the hands of stars and collectors alike. Certain diamonds do more than sparkle—they set the standard.

Ben Affleck (Round One) – The Ring That Changed Everything

In 2002, Ben Affleck set a precedent. The 6.1-carat pink diamond from Harry Winston was a game-changer. Jewelers went scrambling; pink diamonds shot up in value. When the relationship ended in 2004, the ring faded from relevance.

Marc Anthony – A Bigger and Bolder Move

Barely a year after ending things with Affleck, Lopez had a ring from Marc Anthony. This time, an 8.5-carat blue diamond. Also from Harry Winston. Bigger, bolder, and built to last longer than her previous rings—though not long enough. By 2011, the marriage was over.

Alex Rodriguez – Raising the Stakes

When Alex Rodriguez proposed in 2019, he went massive. His emerald-cut diamond weighed in between 10 and 15 carats. Price estimates ranged wildly between $1 million and $5 million. Despite the spectacle, they split in 2021. The ring stayed in the past.

Ben Affleck (Round Two) – A Rare Second Chance

Affleck came back, and so did another massive diamond. This time, a fancy green diamond—one of the rarest stones out there. Lopez called green her lucky color. Less than two years later, the luck ran out.

The Wedding Band – Simple but Inevitable

When Lopez and Affleck married in Las Vegas in 2022, the engagement ring got a companion. A plain white gold band. A minor addition compared to the diamonds in her past. The relationship collapsed, but the rings remain reminders of what worked—for a time.
