A disgraced Victorian jockey has been banned for 10 years for deliberately losing races in a major betting scandal.
Lewis German, 25, will not be allowed to ride for a decade after being found guilty at the Victorian Racing Tribunal.
German admitted to riding his mounts to lose races between April 21 and August 31 in 2022.

The tribunal was told professional punter Noah Brash placed a total of 89 lay bets – wagering that a horse will not win a race – on German rides during that period.
Brash is said to have wagered around $2.5 million on this bets and profited $259,494 in total.

“I am not here to tell a sad story,” German told the tribunal.
“I am here to apologise to the racing community and to everyone who trusted in me.
“I feel like I let them down.
“I have not received any money. I believed there was going to be money.
“I was told that I would be paid at the start but I was probably gullible at the time.”
Fellow jockey Michael Ploy has also been charged in the same scandal.
Ploy will face the tribunal on March 31.
