With his 384th hit of the 2024-25 season, Sherwood now holds the league record for most hits in a single season.

Sherwood set the record when he threw his body at former teammate Carson Soucy just seconds into the first period of the Canucks’ game against the New York Rangers.

He surpasses the previous record of 383, set last season by Nashville Predators defenceman Jeremy Lauzon. Sherwood was teammates with Lauzon in Nashville at the time.

The next three highest single-season marks all belong to New York Islanders winger Matt Martin: 382 in 2014-15, 374 in 2011-12, and 365 in 2015-16.

Entering Saturday’s game with 383 hits in 65 games, the 29-year-old Sherwood had 123 more than the next closest players on the leaderboard, Luke Schenn and Mathieu Olivier, who have 260 each.

He has also recorded 15 goals and 14 assists this season.
