JJ Redick Sends A Clear Message About Bronny James’ Ability

Thursday night was a big one for Bronny James of the Los Angeles Lakers.

With a lacking roster, James was given the opportunity to shine, and he took it.

He scored 17 points, his most by far this season, and earned the praise of many fans, even though the Lakers lost.

Following the game, head coach JJ Redick spoke about Bronny and what the team envisions for him.

“We think [Bronny] is gonna be an above-average to really good NBA shooter,” Redick said, per Legion Hoops.

James went 7-of-10 during the game, meaning he was an impressive 70 percent from the field.

He also sank two of his four three-point attempts.

For the season, James has a field goal percentage of 35.4 and a 26.9 three-point percentage.

In other words, he was doing a lot better on Thursday night and his shooting was very impressive.

Redick could be right, and James could be a talented bench shooter who helps out the Lakers, or perhaps other teams in the future.

But can he keep it up?

He hasn’t had a night like this all season, but he also hasn’t been given this many minutes before.

Because of the injuries on the roster, James played for 30 minutes, far exceeding anything he has experienced before.

He spends most of his time in the G-League, so it’s unlikely that he plays this much again in 2024-25.

But this game meant something to James, to Redick, and to the rest of the Lakers.

They may not see James on the floor like this again, but he has proven that he has skill, even if it isn’t on display every single night.
