French far-right leader Marine Le Pen has been convicted of embezzling EU funds.

The far-right politician is accused of misusing the funds between 2004 and 2016, when she was a member of the European parliament.

The judges in the case will rule later on Monday on whether to ban her from standing for office with immediate effect, which could bar her from the 2027 presidential election, for which she is one of the favourites.

Le Pen has said she will appeal.
