We’re less than one week into the MLB season, but we already have our first “Maddux,” or complete game shutout with less than 100 pitches!
Texas Rangers veteran Nathan Eovaldi accomplished the feat, striking out eight and allowing four hits on 99 pitches in the 1-0 win over the Cincinnati Reds.
Pitching a complete game is an increasingly-rare feat in modern Major League Baseball, but the occasional pitcher reminds us that it is still possible. How many of the active pitchers with at least five career complete games can you name in five minutes?
Good luck!
