Analyst Believes Nikola Jokic Could Make Surprise Move This Offseason

Nikola Jokic said goodbye to his head coach on Tuesday, but could he be saying goodbye to his team soon?

Ryen Russillo spoke about the chance of Jokic leaving the Nuggets this offseason in the wake of Michael Malone’s firing, via a video shared by Jokicism on X.

Russillo doesn’t have any inside reporting suggesting this will happen this summer, but he did pose a scenario where a new head coach is hired but Jokic starts to question his position with the Nuggets.

Is there a chance that this could be the beginning of the end for Jokic’s time in Denver?

Obviously, that is the last thing the team’s front office wants, and they surely considered Jokic’s opinion when they let go of Malone.

No one knows how much Jokic was aware of, but he will be deeply involved in the process moving forward.

The Nuggets will select someone who can help lead the team and also get along well with Jokic.

It’s no shock that Denver’s general manager was also fired, because the roster around Jokic needs to be improved and the front office will get to work at making that happen.

The Nuggets want to keep Jokic happy, and will do everything within their power to make it happen.

How quickly can they move?

This offseason could be a massively consequential one for the Nuggets as they set out on their quest to get a new head coach and general manager while also pleasing their biggest star.

Denver probably isn’t at risk of losing Jokic right now, but if they don’t handle these next steps well, they could be laying the groundwork for his eventual departure.
