T.J. Watt is seeking an extension as he enters the final year of his contract, and all it took was one photo for Pittsburgh Steelers fans to come to the conclusion that their star pass-rusher is as good as gone.
Watt has one year remaining on the four-year, $112M extension he signed with the Steelers back in 2021. After racking up 30.5 sacks over the past two seasons, Watt is undoubtedly looking to become one of the highest-paid defensive players in the NFL, if not the highest.
When asked about Watt’s contract situation at the NFL owners meetings in Palm Beach, Florida, last week, Steelers general manager Omar Khan would only say he is “hopeful” Watt will retire with the team.
That did not give fans in Pittsburgh much reassurance. Then on Wednesday, Watt shared a photo on his Instagram story that showed him holding up two fingers.
