Just because they have earned the third seed in the West doesn’t mean the Los Angeles Lakers can take it easy.
In fact, the opposite is true, and now the Lakers have even more to prove.
That is why it was so concerning on Friday night when it appeared that LeBron James was hurt.
He checked out with more than seven minutes to go in the third quarter and seemed to be favoring his left side.
But following the game, head coach JJ Redick said this was nothing to be worried about.
“He’s fine,” Redick said, per Dave McMenamin.

This is not the time for James to get hurt, so this is very good news for all Lakers fans.
James has averaged 24.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 8.2 assists per game this season, shooting 51.3 percent from the field.
Even at 40 years old, he is still hugely consequential for the Lakers, and they want him in great shape for the weeks ahead.
Thankfully for James, the team doesn’t live or die based on him, especially now that they have Luka Doncic.
Plus, supporting stars like Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura have been getting better lately, too, leaving the Lakers in good hands.
But this team is always better when James is healthy and performing well.
On top of that, he has been in so many playoff games that his experience and expertise are mandatory.
James has had a couple of injuries this season, and his groin issues don’t seem 100 percent resolved, but he is going to be okay and should be ready to play when the postseason starts.
Thankfully, he can rest for the final game of the regular season since the third seed is locked up.
