Golden State Warriors fans were surprised by the lack of Jonathan Kuminga on Sunday during their final regular-season game.
Following that game, head coach Steve Kerr said that it was his decision not to play Kuminga because he was comfortable with the lineup they were using.
Analyst Mark Willard wasn’t thrilled by this choice and spoke about it on 95.7 The Game.
“We’re not in exploration mode, we’re in desperation mode. You can’t go, ‘Let’s see how this works.’ [The Warriors] would respond and say, ‘That’s what we’ve been doing and it doesn’t work!” Willard said.

Kuminga averaged 15.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in 2024-25, shooting 45.4 percent from the field.
He played for an average of 24.3 minutes per game, but he only appeared in 47 games this year, compared to 74 last season.
He also only started in 10 games, compared to his 46 starts in 2023-24.
The relationship between Kumigna and Kerr has been strained at times, and some fans are frustrated by how little they see of the 22-year-old forward.
Is Kerr done with Kuminga and ready to move on from him?
It certainly seems like that sometimes, and there have been constant rumors about the Warriors trading Kuminga away in the summer.
The fact that Kerr didn’t use him at this point in the season with so much on the line says a lot.
Certain fans and analysts feel that now is not the time for Kerr to be tweaking the lineup and experimenting.
It’ll be interesting to see what he does during the Warriors’ Play-In appearances.
Will Kuminga make a return, or will Kerr continue to bench him?
And what will happen in the summer, especially if the team falls short in the playoffs?
