Packers Re-Sign Veteran Tight End

The Green Bay Packers have been relatively quiet this offseason, and they haven’t addressed their big weaknesses, at least not yet.

More than anything else, they’re in need of a true No. 1 option at the wide receiver position, and they could use some pass-rushing help as well.

While they have a productive tight end in Tucker Kraft, who put up 707 receiving yards and seven touchdowns last year in his second NFL season, they could use some depth behind him.

On Monday, they reportedly re-signed tight end John FitzPatrick, per Aaron Wilson.

“Packers signed John FItzPatrick,” Wilson wrote.

Before coming to the NFL, FitzPatrick had spent four seasons with the University of Georgia Bulldogs.

The Atlanta Falcons took him in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, and after not playing during his rookie season due to injury, he caught one pass for 12 yards in 2023 despite appearing in nine games.

In 2024 with Green Bay, he had one reception for two yards in nine games.

Many people had pegged Green Bay as a Super Bowl contender prior to the 2024 season, but they fell a bit short of expectations by finishing with an 11-6 record and losing in the wild-card round of the playoffs to the eventual Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles.

The storied franchise hasn’t won the Vince Lombardi Trophy since the 2010 season, back when quarterback Aaron Rodgers was in his third year as a full-time starter.
