The Chicago Bears’ strategy for their defense is taking shape as they move swiftly to maintain continuity.
The team recently secured the future of two key players, cementing their vision for a dominant unit in the seasons ahead.
Some of that news will excite Bears fans, as a hometown hero received his reward for exceptional play.
“The pride of Lake Villa’s back for more. We have signed T.J. Edwards to a two-year extension,” the Bears announced on X.

The deal runs through the 2027 season, with the linebacker receiving $20 million in new money, including $16.6 million guaranteed.
The extension represents a significant vote of confidence in Edwards, an Illinois native who has established himself as one of general manager Ryan Poles’ most astute signings since joining the team two years ago.
It comes just days after nickel cornerback Kyler Gordon secured his future with a three-year, $40 million extension.
The back-to-back moves highlight the organization’s commitment to keeping its defensive standouts.
Edwards led the Bears with 153 tackles in the 2023 season, then elevated his impact last season by posting career-highs with four sacks and 12 tackles for loss.
He brought championship pedigree to Chicago after leading the Philadelphia Eagles with 159 tackles during their run to Super Bowl LVII.
Now, he’ll continue to bring that intensity to the Bears’ defense for years to come.
