The New York Jets will be on the clock with the No. 7 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Most mocks have them either taking RB Ashton Jeanty or OT Armand Membou.
However, Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated believes they could shock everyone with an unsuspected pick.
As shared by Paul Andrew Esden Jr. on X, Breer claimed that they could go with Texas DB Jahdae Barron.
“One name that I think is sort of interesting here. If there is a curveball & I think this is too high for him, but if there is a curveball, it has been pointed out to me how good of a fit Jahdae Barron, the defensive back from Texas,” Breer said.
Well, that is the first I have heard of this…#NFL Insider @AlbertBreer said if there is going to be a curveball w/ the #Jets in the first round, it would be Texas DB Jahdae Barron.

While he acknowledged that it might be a bit of a reach, he adds that he would be a perfect fit for Aaron Glenn’s defensive system.
The Jets don’t necessarily need to add more firepower at cornerback, but Barron is more of a well-rounded defensive back than an average corner.
He played in the slot, outside, and at the safety position in college, and he’s coming off intercepting a career-high five passes last season.
The Jets’ defense thrived with their ‘positionless football’ approach during the Robert Saleh era, so Barron fits the bill as a player who could potentially slide in and carve out a role.
He would also give the team some depth in case of injuries, as he can cover multiple spots with ease.
On the downside, he’s projected to be a late first-round pick, so the Jets might be able to trade down and still get him further down if they truly like him.
Taking him with a top-ten selection, on the other hand, might raise plenty of eyebrows, and it might not be the best start for this new regime.
