The 2025 quarterback class in the upcoming draft isn’t seen as anything generational, as it’s unclear what will happen outside of Cam Ward likely going first overall to the Tennessee Titans.
That being said, there are still plenty of talented quarterbacks in this class who could he big high-upside plays for QB-needy teams, and one analyst believes one prospect compares favorably to 2-time MVP Lamar Jackson.
NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah hosted his annual pre-draft conference call with the media on Friday and spoke highly of Alabama quarterback prospect Jalen Milroe, comparing him to the Ravens star.
“In terms of a comparison, the only thing I’d say is, as a runner, he’s as impressive as Lamar Jackson was as a runner coming out (of Louisville),” Jeremiah said. “Lamar was light years ahead of him in terms of the passing game.”
The comparisons are obvious, as Milroe comes into the draft as a talented yet unpolished passer with tremendous running ability after racking up 20 touchdowns on the ground for the Crimson Tide this past season.
Milroe’s stock is hard to get an accurate grasp on, and it’s possible he’ll find himself landing with a team that decides to trade back up into the end of the first round to secure five years of rookie contract coverage, just like Lamar Jackson did when he was selected by the Ravens with the No. 32 pick.
After Ward, Shedeur Sanders is the likely QB2 off the board, and after that, it’s a collection of talented high-upside guys such as Milroe, Jaxson Dart, and Tyler Shough, who could fall anywhere from the top ten all the way to the third day of the draft.
You never know when it comes to the draft, and if Milroe has a career anything close to what Jackson has done, whichever team selects him should be quite happy.
