Former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky couldn’t contain his enthusiasm for Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart after studying his game film.
During an appearance on the “Russ Tucker Podcast,” Orlovsky revealed how Dart’s performances captured his attention in unexpected ways, drawing comparisons to another prospect who similarly impressed him before entering the NFL.
In a video clip circulated Friday on X, Orlovsky explained how Dart’s evaluation process mirrored his experience with Bo Nix prior to the 2024 draft.
The analyst then elevated the comparison by likening aspects of Dart’s playing style to Philadelphia Eagles star Jalen Hurts.
“He was the guy for me this year that was a little bit similar to Bo Nix last year,” Orlovsky said. “I went into it with average expectations and I watched his tape and I go, ‘I really like his tape.’ There’s a lot of Jalen Hurts in his game for me.”

Orlovsky suggested the Ole Miss standout might have higher potential than many currently recognize.
Dart solidified his draft position through a remarkable senior campaign at the University of Mississippi.
The quarterback demonstrated precision and productivity, connecting on 276 of 398 pass attempts for 4,279 yards while maintaining an impressive touchdown-to-interception ratio of 29:6.
Despite these achievements, most analysts position him as the third quarterback prospect behind Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders.
His comparison to Hurts suggests Dart possesses qualities that could translate exceptionally well to the professional level, potentially prompting teams to value his upside more aggressively than current projections indicate.
With the draft rapidly approaching, Dart remains somewhat of a wildcard. Most forecasts have him landing either late in the first round or sliding into day two.
