JJ Redick was ultimately happy with his Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night, but he was definitely very upset during one particular moment.
In the third quarter, Redick called for a timeout and then laid into his team with an expletive-filled outburst.
Following the game, Redick spoke about this and said that it was just his way to get his team back on track.
“Not frustration, just coaching,” Redick stated, via New York Basketball. “Other than a couple of disorganized plays, we played good offense tonight. As a coach, you could see it coming when the other side of that is on the horizon. Just wanted to make sure everybody was on the same page. Tonight, it was just more about getting that urgency button switched back on.”
“Not frustration just coaching…Couple disorganized plays…Wanted to make sure everybody on same page…I’ve done that in a game handful of times…Not something I want to do…More about getting urgency button back on”

Redick was obviously very upset, but he said that it’s not anything new from him.
Indeed, this is something he has done multiple times throughout the season.
Some people might see this as a sign of disharmony and chaos on the team, but Redick believes the opposite is true.
This is a way for him to get the urgency back and then help his team play better and get their heads back in the game.
The players don’t seem to have a problem with this and they did exactly what Redick demanded.
It was a tough game and the Timberwolves came back from a big deficit.
But it was Redick’s coaching and planning that got his team across the finish line.
He is obviously very engaged and enthusiastic about his team winning and will do anything to make that happen, including laying into his players.
Will he need to get so vulgar in Game 3, or will the Lakers stay on course?
