NFL Coach Gets Honest About The Talent In 2025 NFL Draft Class

The 2025 NFL Draft class is quite unique.

It’s not flashy, and there might not be a lot of superstars, as most of the talent is scattered around some seemingly less-valuable positions.

Notably, that’s why some scouts and head coaches aren’t that impressed with what they’re seeing right now.

According to a report by Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the league-wide sentiment is that the talent gap between the top ten players and the rest of the players potentially available in the first round isn’t that wide:

“There aren’t a lot of Robert De Niros at the top of this draft,” an anonymous NFL head coach said.

Perhaps that’s why we haven’t had a big trade near the top of the draft like it usually happens.

Truth be told, this quarterback class is one of the least impressive we’ve seen in years, and even the top-ranked players, Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders, might not turn out to be stars.

Nevertheless, that doesn’t mean this class isn’t deep.

If anything, this class seems to have more NFL-ready players than usual.

It’s also full of potential star linemen, and while that’s not exciting, this game is won and lost in the trenches.

There have been some talks about potential trades involving the No. 2 and No. 3 selections by the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants, respectively, as Ward seems to be all but a lock to be the first player off the board.

That’s because teams know that Travis Hunter and Abdul Carter can be generational players, so it’s not like there aren’t potential Hall of Famers in this edition.
