As the 2025 NFL Draft draws closer, analysts have been questioning the depth of elite talent in this class beyond headliners Travis Hunter and Abdul Carter.
Yet amid these concerns, one player continues to distinguish himself – Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty.
The Broncos standout enters the draft as one of the most complete and promising prospects regardless of position, drawing increasingly serious attention from teams picking in the early rounds.
NFL insider Albert Breer recently identified three franchises potentially positioning themselves to land the dynamic back.
“If there’s a player who will elicit a trade up into the top 10, I think it will be Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty—whether it’s the Denver Broncos taking a big swing or the Chicago Bears making a shorter move to leapfrog another team,” Breer wrote. “The Jacksonville Jaguars, Denver or Chicago could look at Jeanty and see a player who could stabilize your offense, and put your quarterback in second-and-6 and third-and-2 more often, and give him lay-ups in the passing game.”
While many view this draft class as relatively thin on top-end talent, Jeanty represents a clear exception.
Breer’s assessment places Jeanty in rarified air among this draft class.
When evaluating genuine top-tier talent available, the insider sees only a handful of names truly standing out, with Hunter, Carter, and Jeanty leading that exclusive group.
What makes Jeanty particularly valuable is his potential to become elite at running back, with Breer suggesting he could develop into a top-five player at his position.
The comparison to how backs like Ezekiel Elliott and Todd Gurley elevated young quarterbacks early in their careers appears especially relevant.
Jeanty could provide similar support for developing signal-callers like Trevor Lawrence, Caleb Williams, or Bo Nix, potentially making him more impactful than solid but unspectacular prospects at other positions.
