The Seattle Seahawks appear to be heading for a bit of a rebuild as they parted ways with several of their key players this offseason.
Out are players like Geno Smith, D.K. Metcalf, and Tyler Lockett, and in are their replacements, such as Sam Darnold and Cooper Kupp.
While Darnold and Kupp are strong veteran additions, the Seahawks appear to be behind as far as the NFC West rankings go.
However, the team has been busy during the 2025 NFL Draft, adding young players they can hopefully build around for years to come.
One such player that has a lot of interest is Jalen Milroe, whom Seattle selected with the No. 92 overall pick.
Head coach Mike Macdonald explained how he plans to use Milroe next season, via Brady Henderson of ESPN.
“Jalen’s a quarterback through and through,” Macdonald said. “He’s going to be trained to play quarterback with us and when he’s in there, he’s going to play quarterback, but the athleticism is going to come to life when he’s on the field, and that’s how he’s going to help us.”
Milroe is a tough and physical player at the quarterback position, though the prevailing thought is that his legs would help him establish a role in the NFL rather than his arm.
However, it sounds like Macdonald has no plans to use him strictly as a runner in special packages, so Milroe could see some real snaps this year.
Darnold is the projected starter for the foreseeable future, but if he struggles, it would open up a path for Milroe to step in.
