One day after Tulane landed former Big Ten quarterback Brendan Sullivan in the transfer portal, suspended signal caller TJ Finley entered the portal on Friday morning.

Tulane was the fifth school for Finley, who was disciplined earlier this month after an arrest for alleged illegal possession of stolen items worth more than $25,000. A truck Finley allegedly was driving had the license plate of a stolen vehicle in Atlanta.

Finley’s attorney said the Ponchatoula, La., native was a victim of an online scam and was unaware the vehicle was stolen. He made a purchase via a social media marketplace, according to attorneys.

Tulane suspended Finley indefinitely after the arrest.

Finley is due in court on June 1 in New Orleans.

Finley has played one season at LSU, two at Auburn and one apiece at Texas State and Western Kentucky. He transferred to Tulane in December.

Finley has passed for 6,128 yards, 37 touchdowns and 20 interceptions during his college career. His most productive season was in 2023 when he passed for 3,439 yards, 24 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

On Thursday, Tulane received a commitment from Sullivan, who formerly played for Northwestern and Iowa.

Sullivan passed for 475 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions and rushed for 150 yards and four touchdowns last season in his lone campaign with the Hawkeyes.
