Trent Robinson responds as Leniu allegedly involved in another sideline incident with journo

Just weeks on from Roosters forward Spencer Leniu’s ugly sideline spat with Channel Nine commentator Johnathan Thurston, he has reportedly had another run-in with a member of the media.

As the Roosters cruised to a big win over the Dragons in the traditional Anzac Day fixture at Allianz Stadium on the back of Sandon Smith’s career-best performance, the powerful prop allegedly used vulgar language when speaking with reporter Brent Read.

Speaking on 2GB radio on Saturday, Roosters coach Trent Robinson claimed he was not aware of the latest incident involving his fiery forward.

“It’s the first I’ve heard of it, so I can’t really comment on that I didn’t know about that so I’ve got to look at more details,” Robinson said.

“We definitely don’t want conflict constantly but conflict creates interest from a media perspective as well.”

Robinson was supportive of his player throughout the Thurston saga and claimed the headlines created as a result could actually be good for the NRL.

Leniu was not sanctioned by the club, or the NRL, after the stoush with the North Queensland Cowboys and Maroons legend over his criticism of Leniu and the governing body have not yet commented on the alleged run-in with Read on Friday.
