MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) and the MVP Group, led by chairman and staunch sports patron Manuel V. Pangilinan, sealed a partnership for the country’s historic hosting of the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship 2025 from September 12 to 28 at Mall of Asia Arena and Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Following a successful partnership between Suzara and Pangilinan in the Fiba World Cup 2023, their respective groups look to translate their world-class hosting through their familiarity after a signing ceremony on Monday at the Lighthouse in Meralco Building.

“It is a pleasure for the MVP group to be supporting the national volleyball federation of the Philippines, with Tats here, in collaborating in the hosting of the world championship here,” said Pangilinan, who brings along PLDT, Smart, Meralco, Metro Pacific Investments, Cignal and mWell as among the few companies under his belt for an all-out backing to PNVF.

“It is an honor for the Philippines to host that, in promoting the Philippines as a sports destination especially a tourist destination as well in collaborating to raise the sports excellence in this country and of course, national pride.”

PLDT will continue to serve as the official broadband internet partner, while Cignal TV is the official broadcast partner and backer of the men’s national volleyball team.

In 2023, Suzara served as the chief implementer and master planner of the Fiba World Cup organizing committee en route to a successful hosting with Pangilinan as the chairman emeritus of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas.

“The MVP group has been supporting our national teams and this partnership signifies our shared vision to uplift the sport, inspire athletes and galvanize fans across the nation together as one,” said Suzara, also the executive vice president of the FIVB and the president of the Asian Volleyball Confederation.

“Together, we will deliver an event that involves the spirit of volleyball and reinforces our commitment to excellence and sportsmanship.”

It will be a new task for Suzara and the MVP Group in hosting a 32-nation world volleyball event where world No. 57 Alas Pilipinas makes its appearance for the first time since the 1971 edition in Mexico.

The PNVF recently made a groundbreaking announcement in tapping the fast-rising K-Pop group BOYNEXTDOOR as the World Championship global celebrity ambassadors, headlining the explosive ceremony on September 12 at MOA Arena after the Alas Pilipinas-Tunisia game and ceremonial serve of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Eya Laure, who will be one of the official ambassadors with Bryan Bagunas, also graced the signing with the MVP Group as part of her commitment to promote the tournament.

Alas plays in the AVC Champions League in Japan next week, followed by a training camp in the country before heading to the United States.

“After that they will have a training camp in Japan. Then, they go to New York, to the U.S. for exhibition matches and then go to Europe. Babalik na sila dito by July na. It’s good that they’re out there training,” Suzara said.

The PNVF braces for the 100-day countdown in June, where Alas Pilipinas battles three international teams from Japan, Korea, and Thailand.
