MANILA, Philippines–The enemy thought it knew La Salle by heart—but the Lady Spikers flipped the script.
Banking on a dominant net defense, La Salle turned back University of Santo Tomas in four gritty sets, 23-25, 25-20, 30-28, 29-27, on Wednesday at Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

The Lady Spikers, a traditional power itching to get back to the mountaintop, thus claimed the No. 2 seed and a twice-to-beat edge in the UAAP Season 87 women’s volleyball Final Four.
Angel Canino starred with 24 points, while Shevana Laput added 22. Amie Provido also stood tall with five of La Salle’s 20 blocks as the Lady Spikers shut down UST’s late tries at a comeback.

“We rewrote the story,” Laput said, whose crew will have a chance to punch a ticket to the finals when the Lady Spikers play the Golden Tigresses once again—this time in the Final Four—this Saturday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Angge Poyos had 24 points to go with 13 digs and 12 receptions, as Reg Juardo tried her darndest to send the Golden Tigresses to force a deciding fifth set with her 12 points.
But their numbers won’t just cut it—not against a Lady Spikers side raring to make things right, and their prolific defense staring the Golden Tigresses down.
