The New England Patriots went from having one of the greatest head coaches in football history to an unproven first-year head coach.
They didn’t have a lot of talent on the roster either, so it was hardly surprising to see Jerod Mayo struggling so badly in his first and only year in the position.
Then again, it also became painfully evident that he wasn’t cut out for the job, at least not right now.
With that in mind, the front office went to great lengths to get a proven winner like Mike Vrabel in town.
He hasn’t had much of a chance to sit down and get to work with Drake Maye.
Nevertheless, it seems like the second-year quarterback has really enjoyed what he’s seen so far, and he can’t wait to get to training camp already (via Mike Kadlick):
“It’s been awesome. It’s been great with Coach [Vrabel] … looking forward to get things going,” he said.

Vrabel is pretty familiar with the Patriots’ way.
He’s a no-nonsense kind of coach, but he’s also a player’s coach, and he knows how to bring the best out of the pieces at his disposal.
The Patriots improved their roster in a big way in free agency and the NFL Draft.
They got a standout offensive tackle to keep their prized quarterback out of harm’s way, and they also gave him some major weapons in Stefon Diggs, TreVeyon Henderson, and Kyle Williams.
It won’t be easy, and they might need more time to get back to their winning ways, but they’re definitely heading in the right direction.
