MANILA, Philippines—In their previous game against Ginebra in the PBA Philippine Cup, Converge FiberXers–including star Alec Stockton–struggled in possibly their worst offensive game of the conference.

But on Friday, Stockton made sure to avoid a repeat, exploding for 33 points to spark Converge’s statement win over Northport, 111-92.

Against Ginebra, Stockton tallied just eight points on a 2-of-10 shooting clip–a far cry from his usual offensive showing for the FiberXers.

“Honestly, I needed to bounce back from that game against Ginebra. I’m just grateful we got the W today,” said a beaming Stockton.

“For me, it’s not about the points. I’m just glad my shots were going in today and I got my rhythm. For us, it’s about grinding it out and making sure we come out the win.”

Stockton exploded on offense, finishing just three points shy of tying his career-high of 36. He added three assists, three rebounds and two steals to keep the Batang Pier at bay.

This time, Stockton reminded everyone how much of a dynamite he is on offense, sinking 11-of-21 for a blistering 52.4 percent shooting clip.

As the PBA playoff race nears its fever pitch, though, Stockton has no room to celebrate his hot-shooting night. The two-way guard is keeping his focus in check to push Converge to another post-season appearance.

“We’re not close to where we want to be but we’ll keep progressing, try to get a playoff spot and work from there,” said Stockton.

Next up for the FiberXers is an affair with red-hot NLEX on Friday at the same venue.
