Elite DB Devin Jackson ready for national official visit slate

The official visit slate for elite defensive back Devin Jackson has seen some change.

The Orlando (Fla.) The First Academy two-way talent tells Rivals he will now kick off his slate with LSU on May 30. Miami is next on June 6 before Oregon on June 13 and Nebraska on June 20.

The four programs aren’t an official top group, but could be considered among the primary contenders along with others pushing to be added to his itinerary like Florida, Texas A&M and Georgia.

A verbal commitment is to be expected sometime between the summer visits and the kickoff game currently set for August 15.

“I don’t have any timeline,” Jackson said. “But maybe for the IMG game or something like that.”

The four-star talent was most recently at Oregon and the Ducks are to be considered a mainstay on his list moving forward.

“Just their process, plus the background,” he said. “Coach (Dan) Lanning and Coach Tosh (Lupoi) were at Alabama, Georgia…plus the head coach is a defensive guy. They also develop and send defensive backs to the league.”

LSU has long been involved with Jackson and another trip to Baton Rouge could push the Tigers higher on his list.

“Defense, it’s like DBU,” he said. “They send guys to the league about every year. Then Coach (Corey) Raymond and Coach (Jake) Olsen, those guys are developers.”

The Hurricanes are relatively close to home but are among the newest programs on the offer list. A trip to Coral Gables is under his belt and he will be back next month.

“Miami is the hometown team,” Jackson said. “Coach Will Harris is there, he has been my guy since he was at Florida. Even though he left he is still applying pressure to get me to The U.”

Nebraska has been involved for the bulk of this recruitment. Matt Rhule’s program has already hosted the Floridian on multiple occasions, too.

“Coach Addison (Williams) is real,” Jackson said. “And going up there, you wouldn’t think too much of it, but I love it up there. The facilities, just everything. It’s a great place to be.”
