The NFL offseason has shifted into high gear as veterans and rookies get to share the practice field.
For the Jacksonville Jaguars, all eyes are focused on Travis Hunter, the No. 2 overall pick from the 2025 NFL Draft who arrives carrying massive expectations.
With Hunter commanding so much attention, many wondered about Trevor Lawrence’s perspective on his new teammate.
The quarterback recently shared his thoughts on the rookie’s early performances, and his assessment should elevate excitement among Jaguars fans.
“Got a lot of juice, like he can run all day,” Lawrence said. “A lot of energy. I love it. Good energy. Always dapping guys up, just bringing juice every day. Like I said, high motor. Can just go. It’s like a kid just runs around all day. He doesn’t get tired, it seems like. So you can’t have enough of that. And then, as far as just talent, I mean, kind of speaks for itself. Ball skills, run after the catch, he’s very explosive. Just didn’t realize how explosive he was in and out of cuts. He’s impressive to watch.”
Lawrence has yet to fully build on the promise he displayed during the Jaguars’ 2022 playoff campaign, but renewed optimism surrounds the team.
The arrival of new head coach Liam Coen, combined with the addition of Hunter, creates hope for sparking Lawrence’s development.
Questions remain about whether Hunter will play both offense and defense, but his production capabilities are unquestioned.
After posting 96 receptions for 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns in his final college season, Hunter’s offensive potential cannot be overlooked.
This presents an exciting scenario for Lawrence, particularly when considering that Hunter could pair with Brian Thomas Jr. at wide receiver.
Thomas just completed an impressive rookie season with 87 catches, 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns.
The two could form a formidable combination that transforms Jacksonville’s passing attack for years to come.
