MANILA, Philippines—The spotlight may have been on Robert Bolick in NLEX’s win over Converge in the PBA Philippine Cup at Philsports Arena on Friday, but the star guard made sure to shine a light on his rookie teammates as well.
After the Road Warriors’ close 88-81 win over the FiberXers, Bolick was hailed as the best player in the win that sent the squad to a 6-1 record.

But Bolick refused to take all the credit.
“I’m so happy with my teammates,” said a beaming Bolick.
“These kids showed amazing effort. They’re rookies but we and the coaches give them all the confidence they need and they work so hard.”
Rookie Xyrus Torres scored 18 points and four rebounds while JB Bahio registered a near double-double of nine points and nine rebounds. Brandon Ramirez also helped the cause with eight points.

Bolick displayed his usual all-around brilliance with 19 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds to lead the Road Warriors to their sixth straight victory.
“In this conference, coach (Jong Uichico) told us to play a certain system and we’ve been showing great results at 6-1,” he said.
Up next for the Road Warriors are the defending champions Meralco Bolts on Sunday at the same venue.
