All signs point to the Phoenix Suns parting ways with Kevin Durant this offseason.
The Suns need to restock on assets, and their situation has caught the attention of teams across the league.
One franchise that could benefit significantly from Durant’s availability is the New York Knicks.
Colin Cowherd recently made a compelling case for why the Knicks should pursue the veteran superstar.
“Brunson and K.A.T. often flourish when the others are off the floor. It’s a ‘your turn, my turn,’ offense, too often. So I would move off a talented, erratic K.A.T. They need. KD, because you’re going to get K.A.T.’s points, you’re going to get 23 to 25 a game, and he can play complimentary basketball with Jalen Brunson. K.A.T. really doesn’t,” Cowherd said on “The Herd” podcast.

The television host believes Durant represents a perfect fit for New York’s current roster construction.
Unlike Karl-Anthony Towns, Durant doesn’t require heavy ball usage to remain effective. Cowherd sees the former MVP as someone who delivers consistent production while adapting to his teammates’ strengths.
Durant’s skill set addresses multiple needs for the Knicks. His scoring ability remains elite, but his basketball IQ and floor spacing make him an ideal complement to Jalen Brunson and Mikal Bridges.
The veteran forward’s length and defensive awareness would also strengthen New York’s overall team defense.
However, acquiring Durant presents financial and roster challenges. The Knicks would need to offer substantial value to entice Phoenix into a deal.
Towns represents their most tradeable asset without disrupting the core chemistry. New York lacks the draft capital that rebuilding organizations typically covet, making Towns essential to any serious Durant pursuit.
