MANILA, Philippines—MANILA, Philippines — Alex Eala may have bowed out early in her Grand Slam debut at the 2025 French Open, but the Filipina tennis ace is keeping her spirits high.

After falling to Colombia’s Emiliana Arango in the first round of Roland Garros in Paris, Eala took to Instagram to reflect on her journey and vowed to return stronger.

“First Grand Slam main draw in the books! Back to the drawing board for now, but will come back stronger next time,” wrote Eala. “See you for doubles, Roland Garros.”

Eala’s 0-6, 6-2, 3-6 loss to Arango ended her singles campaign, but not her time in Paris.

Arango is a familiar foe for Eala, having also eliminated the 20-year-old from the Miami Open last year.

But Eala’s French Open run continues in the doubles division, where she’s teaming up with Mexico’s Renata Zarazúa.

The pair will open their campaign against the United Kingdom’s Emily Appleton and Spain’s Yvonne Cavalle-Reimers on Tuesday night (Manila time).
