MANILA, Philippines—Gilas Youth remained undefeated in the Fiba Asia U16 Cup Seaba Qualifiers on Wednesday night after pummeling Singapore, 101-37, at Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center.
The Philippines continued its reign of terror in the continental meet after having defeated Thailand by 45, 87-42, and Vietnam by 51, 113-62.
The dominant victory puts Gilas Youth atop the competition with a 3-0 record.
Six players from the Philippines’ side scored in double digits with Everaigne Cruz spearheading the offense with 14 points, four steals and three rebounds.
Jhustin Hallare had his fingerprints all over the ball with 13 points, six assists and five rebounds while Ethan Tan-Chi finished with 12 points, four assists and three rebounds.
Nickson Cabanero and John Restificar also scored 11 each in the win but Gilas Youth had the most significant help off the bench with Gab Delos Reyes serving as the Philippines’ spark plug with seven points, 13 rebounds, seven blocks, six assists and a steal in 22 minutes of action.
Zi Yang Tan was the lone man in Thailand to score in double-digits with 12 points to his name.
Up next for the U16 team is Indonesia, which is also undefeated, on Wednesday at the same venue in San Fernando, Pampanga.
