Julius Randle Has Honest Admission About Playing In New York

Julius Randle has now been away from the New York Knicks for a whole season, and he is openly talking about the good and the bad that came with playing for that historic team.

Speaking with Vince Goodwill, Randle got completely honest about playing for the rabid and loyal New York fanbase and the pressure that comes with being a Knick.

“It ain’t fun. You can’t really focus on the game, you’re focused on everything else other than the game itself. You’re living and dying with every single shot, every single turnover, every single loss,” Randle said, via Legion Hoops.

Randle made it clear: playing for the Knicks comes with a lot of negative and heavy baggage.

Although he got to perform for one of the most historic teams in league history, he also had to deal with the sky-high expectations that come with that.

Randle was the center of many headlines during his years in New York, and some of them weren’t great.

People complained about his consistency, and they were unhappy with the state of the team.

Being in New York City, the lights shone even brighter on Randle and his team.

For his five years with the Knicks, Randle averaged 22.6 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 4.7 assists.

He earned Most Improved Player of the Year and three All-Star appearances while playing for the Knicks, and he also gained the respect and love of many fans.

But ultimately, the Knicks decided to part ways with him and earned Karl-Anthony Towns in a trade with Minnesota.

Both sides seem happy with this decision, and it has now allowed Randle to speak his truth.
