Minnesota Frost capture second Walter Cup title

The Minnesota Frost are Walter Cup champions once again.

The Frost defeated the Ottawa Charge 2-1 in Game 4 of the PWHL Final to win their second consecutive championship.

Liz Schepers scored the game-winning goal in overtime as the Frost won the series 3-1. All four games were decided in overtime.

Frost forward Kelly Pannek opened the scoring with her second goal of the playoffs midway through the second period after receiving a pass from Claire Thompson alone in front of the net.

Tereza Vanisova responded for the Charge in the third period with her first goal of the post-season to tie it at 1-1 after Danielle Serdachny made a great pass from behind the net to Vanisova, who was open in the slot.

Minnesota and Ottawa split the first two games of the series, both in overtime, before the Frost won Game 3 in triple-overtime to take a 2-1 series lead. All four games in the series finished with 2-1 scores.

Last season, Minnesota beat Boston in five games to win the Walter Cup in the inaugural season for the PWHL.
