Calvin Abueva shared a few cryptic messages on social media shortly after news broke of his trade from Magnolia to Northport amid the ongoing PBA Philippine Cup.
On Tuesday, the veteran forward was officially sent to the Batang Pier in exchange for rising star William Navarro.

Abueva quickly took to Instagram, posting two Stories that caught the attention of fans. The first read “byemags,” followed by “walang bago ano pa ba.”
His somewhat dismayed reaction made the rounds on social media. After all, the Hotshots’ camp has been his home for four years, where he played a key role.

The trade also means a dramatic shift for Abueva in terms of standings. Just last week, he was part of a Magnolia squad holding a 7-1 record. He now joins a rebuilding Northport team that sits at 1-7 in the conference.
Aside from the former Alaska star, Jerrick Balanza and a second-round pick were also included as sweetener in the trade that sent the sharp-shooting Navarro to the Hotshots.
Abueva’s expected to don the Northport jersey on Friday when the Batang Pier takes on TNT at Araneta Coliseum.
