The New York Knicks have to win three games in a row against the Indiana Pacers, or else the season is over.
They are stuck in a deep and menacing 3-1 hole in the Eastern Conference Finals, and history would suggest there is no way out.
But OG Anunoby isn’t trying to think about history or what the odds are.
He is simply attempting to get back to New York City and win.
Speaking to the press, via New York Basketball, on Tuesday night, Anunoby made his goals clear.
“Just win the next game. Go back to New York and get ready to win,” Anunoby said of the Knicks’ mindset.

That’s a clear directive and a straightforward goal, but it may be an impossible one.
Coming back from being down 3-1 doesn’t happen often for good reason; it’s a terribly tall task for any team.
This Pacers squad is just so incredibly hard to slow down.
Even with Jalen Brunson scoring 31, Karl-Anthony Towns posting 24, and others like Anunoby and Mikal Bridges contributing a lot, the Pacers remained in control for the whole game.
So, how can the Knicks turn things around in front of their home crowd?
Everything is on the line now, and the Knicks have no room for error.
But they also cannot think about anything beyond the next 48 minutes of basketball.
They need to try to win this series one game at a time and not get bogged down in NBA history and how many teams have never rebounded from a 3-1 deficit.
All eyes will be on the Knicks on Friday night.
They either win and live to see another day or end the season in disappointment.
