The Baylor University Bears football program faces an unimaginable tragedy following the death of one of their own.
Alex Foster, an 18-year-old defensive lineman, was found shot to death in a car early Wednesday morning in Greenville, Mississippi.
The Washington County coroner confirmed Foster suffered multiple gunshot wounds in what has become another devastating incident for the community.
Former Baylor star and NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III responded to the heartbreaking news with an emotional message.
“Prayers up for the family, teammates and friends of Baylor Defensive Lineman Alex Foster. Alex passed away at the age of 18 overnight. So much more life to live,” Griffin III wrote.

Foster participated in spring practices and was preparing for his freshman season after redshirting last year.
The tragedy unfolded in Greenville, where violence has escalated in recent weeks. Mayor Errick D. Simmons addressed the growing wave of violence, calling it a direct threat to the city.
Greenville Police spokesperson Major Misty Mew told the Associated Press that officers responded to a call just after midnight in a residential and commercial area.
They discovered a man with multiple gunshot wounds inside a vehicle.
Though not officially identified at the scene, the victim was transported to the hospital and pronounced dead 30 to 40 minutes later. No arrests have been made and the investigation continues.
