Audiomack and Beatdapp team up to address streaming fraud

Music streaming and discovery platform Audiomack has tapped Beatdapp to monitor streaming activity across its platform.

The partnership sees Audiomack joining a growing number of music services implementing third-party verification systems as fake streams continue to affect music industry metrics.

Beatdapp has already struck partnerships with a number of players in the music industry including business-to-business streaming tech provider Tuned Global; The Mechanical Licensing Collective, the entity that collects mechanical royalties in the US; EDM-oriented digital music service Beatport; social music platform Hangout FM; AI music startup Boomy; and even music giant Universal Music Group.

Almost a year ago, Beatdapp said streaming fraud costs the music industry around $2 billion per year.

Now, Audiomack, which reports 40 million monthly users, has partnered with the software provider to identify artificial activity, compromised user accounts and bots. The detection system helps inform editorial decisions including internal and external chart placements and algorithmic playlist inclusion, according to a press release.

Audiomack offers unlimited music uploads for free, allowing artists to upload content while maintaining licensing agreements with all three major labels and Merlin.

Dave Macli, CEO of Audiomack, said: “We take our role in providing accurate royalty reporting very seriously for the benefit of every creator who earns income from our platform.”

“By partnering with Beatdapp, we have adopted the best-in-class technology from an impartial third party to demonstrate our commitment to both our creator and rights holder partners.”
