AEW’s locker room has been in good spirits over the last year, with reports emerging of high morale as the promotion regains its momentum. However, one of Tony Khan’s brightest stars, Kyle Fletcher, was recently in hot water due to a botch.

Kyle Fletcher faced off with Adam Cole on the May 28 episode of AEW Dynamite. He was determined to snatch away Cole’s TNT Championship, but the match ended in a disqualification, forcing him back to the drawing board. He also reportedly received some backstage heat due to a botched powerbomb during the bout.

The spot took place outside the ring as Fletcher attempted to powerbomb Cole onto the apron. Unfortunately, the 26-year-old misjudged the distance, and the TNT Champion’s head skimmed the edge of the ring. The two narrowly avoided disaster, but several people were allegedly furious with Kyle Fletcher behind the scenes.

In a recent Q&A on Fightful Select, Sean Ross Sapp confirmed that the heat on Fletcher was real, but it wasn’t too severe. He noted that the Australian star is well-liked backstage and showed remorse for the botch, which has seemingly cleared the air.

Adam Cole is reportedly okay following the botched powerbomb on AEW Dynamite

It seemed the sky was the limit for Adam Cole when he signed with AEW in late 2021, but the former WWE Superstar has, unfortunately, suffered a series of injuries in the last few years, which has halted his momentum several times.

Many were scared to see him put back on the shelf after the botched powerbomb on the May 28 Dynamite, but it seems The Panama City Playboy didn’t suffer any real damage.

According to F4W’s Bryan Alvarez, Cole was okay following the match. It can be assumed that All Elite Wrestling still put him through concussion protocol as a safety measure, but the 35-year-old didn’t suffer an injury.

Adam Cole remains the TNT Champion, but Kyle Fletcher has vowed to take the title from him, no matter the cost. Whether the two clash again in the near future remains to be seen.
