Former WWE head writer Vince Russo heaped praise on this week’s episode of SmackDown. The show, emanating from the Dignity Health Arena in Bakersfield, California, featured the build to Money in the Bank.
The latest edition of SmackDown featured most of the major stars on the WWE roster. Huge names like John Cena, Cody Rhodes, Logan Paul, Jey Uso, Seth Rollins, and Rhea Ripley were all on the show, building up to the PLE this weekend.
This week on BroDown with host Mac Davis, Russo praised WWE creative for keeping the focus on the upcoming PLE. He noted that the whole show was focused on getting the fans to watch the event tomorrow night. The veteran writer felt he would have booked some things differently, but credited the creative team for keeping the focus on Money in the Bank.
“I will give them this credit tonight. Money in the Bank is tomorrow. So I will say this, Mac. At least they put focus on Money in the Bank. This show was all about Money in the Bank tomorrow night. Some things I would have obviously done differently. But, at least the focus was on Money in the Bank from the beginning of the show all the way to the end of the show. So they did focus on the show tomorrow night.” [2:04 onwards]
The go-home episode of SmackDown ended with John Cena and Logan Paul standing tall after assaulting Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso. It will be interesting to see if they can “ruin wrestling” by defeating Cody and Jey at Money in the Bank this Saturday.
