Canada’s Laeticia Amihere signing with Valkyries for second stint

Sometimes you don’t know what you have until it’s gone.

The Golden State Valkyries have gone back and signed forward Laeticia Amihere after initially waiving her in the pre-season. The team announced that the Canadian will be available to play against the Los Angeles Sparks on Monday.

Her previous squad, the Atlanta Dream, released her to waivers on Feb. 1, 2025, and the first time the Valkyries picked her up was on Feb. 6, 2025. Amihere led her brand new team in scoring with 20 points in the Valkyries’ first-ever game during the pre-season.

Less than a week after topping the box score, however, the Mississauga, Ont. native was waived.

Prior to Golden State, Amihere spent both of her seasons with Atlanta, which drafted her No. 8 overall in 2023. While in the league, she’s averaged 2.0 points and 1.3 rebounds per game and appeared in 37 contests, including a playoff game last year against the New York Liberty.

The Valkyries are 3-5 on the season and continue to make atypical roster decisions. None of the three players who were selected in the draft by the team two months ago are currently on the roster.
