Abbotsford Canucks advance to Calder Cup Final, to face Charlotte Checkers

The Abbotsford Canucks advanced to the Calder Cup Final with a 4-2 win over the Texas Stars in Game 6 of the Western Conference Final on Sunday.

Abbotsford erased a 2-0 deficit in Game 6 with four unanswered goals, including two from Arshdeep Bains, to book a ticket in the Final.

Canucks goaltender Arturs Silovs stopped 23 of 25 shots in the win.

The Canucks move on to face the Charlotte Checkers, the Florida Panthers’ AHL affiliate, in the Calder Cup Final. Charlotte advanced to the championship series with a sweep of the Laval Rocket in the Eastern Conference Finals.

It is the first time since 2008 that one NHL organization will be represented in both the Stanley Cup Final and Calder Cup Final.

Game 1 of the Calder Cup Final is set for Friday in Charlotte.
