The Green Bay Packers finally cut Jaire Alexander loose.
The decision seemed to be a long time coming, but he’s finally a free agent after failing to find a trade partner.
Now, several teams are likely to be interested in signing him, as they won’t have to absorb his steep salary or give the Packers anything in return.
NFL analyst Matt Hamilton recently made a case for Alexander to join the Philadelphia Eagles.
“[Philadelphia] makes some sense. Not necessarily they need him, but it fits in, your going somewhere where it’s a bonus if he’s healthy, but it doesn’t destroy you if he’s not. [Vic] Fangio would probably love getting his hands on him. It allows him to use some of those other pieces, take advantage of the versatility he has with Cooper DeJean and some of those other pieces. It does make a lot of sense,” Hamilton said on “Up & Adams.”

The Eagles can afford to take that kind of risk, as they already have a defense that’s stacked with talent, and they’re fresh off winning a Super Bowl.
They will also enter the season with a good chance to repeat, so they might not have to offer him a lot of money to convince him to join them.
Alexander likely will have a huge chip on his shoulder and determined to prove that he’s still got it.
But even if he continues to struggle with injuries, the Eagles wouldn’t have much trouble getting by without him.
They don’t need to add Alexander, or anybody else, but if it works out, they can be even better.
